When I first heard of this remake of Resident evil 2 I was happier than a junkie in an Oxycontin factory. Resident Evil was the main cause of my nightmares when I was a young boy and As much I did love the HD remake of the original, there is something even more special about rebuilding a game from the ground up.
In case you have been lost in the Himalayas your whole life, the Resident Evil franchise is all about dead flesh eating zombies and kicking ass. This Resident Evil is a remake of the second release, Resident Evil 2 (1998). It follows rookie police officer Leon S.Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield as they attempt to escape from Raccoon City during a zombie apocalypse.
The demo Resident Evil 2 ‘1 shot demo’ was fantastic and left me wanting more because the half an hour just simply wasn’t enough. The gameplay was smooth and the controls did not feel clunky and were easy to get the hang of. The graphics were amazing, the atmosphere and ambiance was exactly why I fucking love the Resident Evil franchise. Each sound and noise would make you wonder what the hell was creeping up behind you or what just smashed its way through the window.
So in conclusion from half an hour of gameplay I will 100% be buying this game. It took me back to the days of being a young boy of 12 years old, figuring the puzzles out (with my dads help) and trying not to shit myself with fright, but this demo also showed me that it has been enhanced that much, that it is a brand new game entirely. Really, if you say you are a resident evil fan but don’t buy this…… you are only lying to yourself.
It is scheduled for worldwide release for the PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox one on January 25, 2019. For more on Resident Evil 2, check out our previous coverage.
