After roughly one year of speculation Ubisoft has officially announced the setting of the new Assassins Creed. The new adventure was announced in a live stream hosted by Ubisoft and artist BossLogic and will follow the story of Vikings plundering and pillaging their way through England. The actual time setting is unclear, the Viking era did span for about 250 years so we can expect somewhere between 800 – 1050 AD.
The live stream had BossLogic slowly assemble a piece of artwork which shows the iconic Viking ship on the left, giving fans hope that sailing and plundering will be included in the huge open world map. On the right hand side we can see a battlefield which looks similar to the larger scale battles that where introduced in Assassin Creed Odyssey. In the centre we have what is clearly a Viking holding a menacing looking axe with the iconic Assassin Creed symbol engraved onto it.
Ubisoft confirmed a full reveal trailer would be dropping at 1am AEST on May 1st which I can only assume will include an actual release date. I am a huge fan of the Assassin Creed Franchise and have enjoyed the shift into fantasy/RPG elements that have come in the last two games. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game as it could very well be the Viking RPG many gamers have been hoping for, I know I certainly have. I will see you all in the Halls of Valhalla!
