Overwatch 2 – Official! Announced at BlizzCon 2019

Blizzard Entertainment has dropped one of the best ‘play of the games’ this year! A sold-out crowd at BlizzCon 2019 were lucky enough to be introduced to Overwatch 2. Building on the foundation of the original, Overwatch 2 will allow players to dig deeper into the story of Overwatch and explore the world it has to offer.

A big addition to Overwatch 2 is that players will be able to partake in cooperative missions, teaming up to fight an overwhelming global crisis. But don’t worry, Overwatch 2 is staying true to its roots by bringing an evolved competitive mode, multiple new playable heroes, new international locations and new Push maps. In addition to this, the original game’s heroes, maps, and modes will also be included in Overwatch 2.

“With Overwatch 2, we’re building the cooperative, narrative-driven game experience that players have been asking for since the original—and that we’ve wanted to make for a long time,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re looking forward to telling the next chapter of this epic story in-game, and we’re excited to give players a whole-new kind of co-op experience built around progressing and customising their favourite heroes—all while providing even more of everything they love about Overwatch today.”

The sequel also sees significant improvements over the original, such as engine upgrades, supporting larger maps for co-op (PvE) play, a variety of new enemies and factions and visual enhancements bringing Overwatch 2 to a new level of detail.

Blizzard’s strong commitment to the existing Overwatch community, is allowing current Overwatch players the opportunity to battle side-by-side with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer. This means Overwatch players have the ability to play Overwatch 2 heroes and maps, keeping the core PvP experience fresh for today’s community in the Overwatch 2 era.

That’s some pretty exciting news for an Australian Overwatch fan to wake up to. I can’t wait to experience all these new heroes. I think that after years of D.Va being my main, this run may have finally come to an end. Stay tuned on MEF TECH and visit www.playoverwatch.com for everything Overwatch 2.
