Minecraft Launches Partnership with UN Development Programme
The Minecraft team today, has announced a new partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The new partnership will provide Public Service Announcements across Minecraft’s huge social following in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. The PSAs aim to encourage proper handwashing, social distancing and staying home if you’re feeling unwell.
Minecraft’s social channels over the course of week, will share messaging based off the World Health Organisation’s recommendations under the banner of #TomorrowTogether. Minecraft mascots will play a key part in encouraging Minecraft fans to do their part.
The team at Mojang, has written “No matter what part of the world you live in, you are likely experiencing strange and scary times at the moment, as the novel coronavirus continues to spread through our communities.”
Going on to say “Over the next week or so, we are devoting space in all of our social channels to important health advice derived from the World Health Organization’s recommendations. So if you suddenly come across a Creeper asking you to wash your hands, don’t worry: their agenda has not permanently changed. In the game, they still want nothing more than to get cozy with you and proceed to blow up.”
