Since Metro Exodus was announced to be an Epic Games Store exclusive last week, the game bas been drawing alot of negative publicity. The public have reacted with negative review bombing on Steam for the previous installments in the Metro series. Not ideal for developer 4A Games, but nothing new as it’s just the community venting their frustration with the exclusive deal. What is new however, is the developer threatening to boycott future PC releases of the Metro series. This has forced Publisher Deep Silver to go into damage control and take to social media stating that “a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans”.
An alleged developer for 4A Games posted on a Russian forum; GAMEINATOR under the alias of scynet, voiced his disappointment on the negative review bombing on Steam. Now, this is understandable, 4A Games are proud of their work and are only trying to reap the benefits of the generous revenue split that Epic Game Store provides (when compared to Steam). But, the alleged developer went one step further and is threatening to boycott future PC releases of the Metro series if the review bombing continues.
Obviously, Publisher Deep Silver weren’t too pleased when this need went mainstream and took to social media to affirm that the developer’s views “do not reflect Deep Silver’s or 4A Games’ view on the future of the franchise”. Deep Silver confirmed that there will definitely be future PC releases. “We have every intention of continuing this franchise, and a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans.”. These comments appear to confirm that the GAMEINATOR user scynet is indeed a developer for 4A Games.
Will these comments stop the negative review bombing? Not a chance!
