Those who know me know I’m a huge Carlton Football Club tragic — I’ve been supporting the club through thick and thin for the last 25 years. So when my beloved Blues announced that they have joined forces with the biggest game developer in Australia, I felt the need to spread the good news, especially during times where financial support for sporting clubs is critical.
“We are delighted to have Big Ant Studios continue as a partner of the Carlton Football Club,” Carlton CEO Cain Liddle said. “Ross, his family and the entire team at Big Ant are genuine in their support of the women’s game. They are committed to its ongoing growth and development and we are excited to be working alongside them in order to achieve that.”.
The AFLW season was bought to a halt, only a few weeks before the grand final was set to be played. Carlton was one of the hot favourites and was set to play North Melbourne for a spot in the grand final. Nevertheless, no winner was crowned as the impact from COVOD-19 was putting the players at risk and the season was cancelled without a winner.
Fast forward a month to Carlton’s AFLW Best and Fairest presentation where it was announced that Big Ant Studios have “increased their support of AFLW, with the game developer becoming an AFLW Platinum Partner of the Blues”, along with presenting Carlton’s 2020 Best and Fairest count, which was won for the second year by young gun, Maddy Prespakis.
This partnership is great news for both parties, one that I’m sure will continue for years to come.
