ASUS announced today a new series of GPUs for the upcoming release of the NVIDIA 30 Series. The cards revealed were ROG Strix 3090, 3080, 3070, ASUS TUF Gaming 3090 and 3080, and ASUS DUAL 3070. These new cards bring improved cooling and power design to complement NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture perfectly.

The second-generation 30 Series RTX cards feature new Tensor Cores and streaming multiprocessors, which get insanely fast frame rates and AI acceleration to games and other creative applications. The 30 series can power graphics at virtually any resolution, even up to 8k at the higher end. Without a doubt, these new cards are the largest generational leap in terms of power and performance.

ROG Strix: Take Flight

The ROG Stix GeForce RTX 30 Series has been redesigned with a plethora of improvements meant to accommodate NVIDIA’s powerful Ampere architecture.

A larger heatsink was added to leverage and increase airflow. Polished with new MaxContact technology, the heatsink has improved smoothness at a microscopic level. This extra flatness creates better contact with the die for superior thermal transfer. Three fans fill a new shroud and are specially tuned to provide premium cooling. The middle fan has 13 blades and spins in the opposite rotation of the outside fans in order to reduce turbulence. The two other fans have 11 blades and half-height barrier rings, allowing for better lateral dispersion of heat and providing airflow through the card’s cooling array.

Together with cooling improvements come new top-shelf capacitors, chokes, and power stages. Dubbed Super Alloy Power II by ASUS, the components are connected to the PCB by exclusive ASUS Auto-Extreme manufacturing technology. These premium upgrades allow for the effortless delivery of hundreds of watts in a millisecond’s notice.

The ROG Strix also features FanConnect II headers, which allow fans to be tuned based on CPU and GPU temperatures. PC builders can quickly change card behaviour via the onboard Dual Bios switch, which has a Performance and Quiet profiles, there is no need for software. ASUS has also implemented an onboard voltage-sensing circuit to monitor PSU rail voltage. If the rails voltage drops too low, a red LED will trigger to indicate the power supply issue. This LED will save tons of time when it comes to debugging the source of a crash.

All the improvements on the ROG Strix Geforce RTX 30 Series deliver a massive improvement in thermals. Combined with more debugging tools, high-end capacitors, and some added RGB, these cards look to give gamers the best possible experience.

TUF Gaming: Built TUF

Stripped down and rebuilt to provide the most power possible, the TUF Gaming Geforce RTX 30 series features a new all-metal shroud and Axial-tech fans to maximize cooling. Optimized fan rotations reduce turbulence, and a new stop mode can stop all three fans at low temps. Beneath the fans are individual heatsinks which keep thermals under strict control.

Just like their TUF predecessors, these new cards are selected based on durability and performance. Featuring military-grade components like chokes and capacitors make the TUF Gaming RTX 30 series stand out against the competition. The cards are also subjected to an intense 144-hour validation trail that ensures each unit will perform flawlessly under pressure.

The backplate features a wide vent for airflow that pushes out hot air instead of cycling it through the machine. A stainless steel I/O bracket protects ports and provides the most secure mounting possible. Like the ROG Strix, TUF Gaming cards also have Dual Bios with Performance and Quiet fan profiles.

Melding performance and simplicity like no other, the ASUS Dual Geforce RTX 3070 is the perfect card for making your “budget” build not so budget. The card uses advanced cooling technology to maximize performance while maintaining its smaller size and style.

Two fans fit in a clean and subtle shroud that can accommodate any PC build. Dual Axial-tech fans provide ample cooling and come to a halt at low volumes to lower acoustics.
